After Felix shows the inmates how many people Prospero imprisoned, they turn against him, but when he says that they should look at Prospero’s perspective, he shows them a man who had very little control, and a lot of dangers confronting him: the inhospitable island and then the danger of Caliban threatening to rape Miranda. He says that he had to stand up for himself and his daughter.
