Who is Felipe Gorlero in the novel, Hades, Argentina?

The Colonel—real name Felipe Gorlero—was a government official in Argentina. In the 1970s, the Colonel worked as an official for the increasingly authoritarian government in Argentina. The Colonel was a friend of Tomás’ mother, although the origin of that friendship remains obscure. It is through the Colonel that Tomás was able to acquire a job at a government interrogation center. The Colonel died of a heart attack about nine years after Tomás fled the country. During Tomás’ return visit to Argentina, the Colonel appears to Tomás as a ghost and acts as his guide through Buenos Aires and Tomás’ memories.
