When Gulliver is told that the emperor plans to poke his eyes out and starve him, he realizes that the emperor is no longer his friend. Gulliver also realizes that he is not going to get a fair trial at all. Gulliver's confusion and disappointment over the emperor's sudden change of attitude cause him to leave and go to Blefuscu.
