Gulliver's Travels

What is the king's attitude toward Gulliver in all of Part 2, Chapter 5?

The king keeps Gulliver around for amusement, but doesn't really seem at all concerned about Gulliver's safety. If he had been, Gulliver would have been protected from many of the mishaps in the chapter. Also, after the incident with the monkey, the king makes light of the entire situation. So, although he seems to like Gulliver, the king doesn't seem very involved or attached. It's like Gulliver is a form of replaceable entertainment for the king.
