What do Gulliver's choices of people to call back from the dead say about his motivations?

Gulliver sees Alexander the Great, Hannibal, Brutus and Caesar. All of them are major political figures. So, it's obvious that Gulliver has a great interest in politics and history and is highly motivated to find out what the true history of each person was.
