What are the people of Laputa like?

The men of Laputa are interested in little other than math, astrology and music. The women are very discontented with their family lives so they often cheat on their husbands or leave them altogether and go down to the island below. Gulliver thinks that the island is beautiful, but that the people of Laputa are a bit absurd.
