Where does Brandon go when he is suspended from school on September 11th in the novel, Ground Zero?

There is no one at home to watch Brandon when he is suspended from school, so he has to go to work with his dad that morning. His father cannot take a sick day. They take the train to the World Trade Center where his father works.
