What was the situation between Group 9, Group 8, and the females?

Group 9 was discovered. Shortly after, the group's female dies. Groups 8 and 9 shared an area with fruit trees, suggesting friendliness. Group 8 was left without a female at all. It took over three years before Rafiki obtained two females from Group 4.
