What was Fossey's initial dream? How did it come to fruition?

Fossey had a dream to go to Africa to study the silverback gorillas. In order to make her dream come true Fossey took out a loan to pay for a trip abroad. Fossey's plan was to spend 7 weeks in Africa learning about the animals, their habitat, actions, personalities, and dangers from poachers.
