What caused Bravado to change drastically?

Bravado gave birth to her first baby, a male named Curry. After the birth, Bravado remained somewhat removed from the others in the group. When Curry was ten months old, he was found dead. Fossey refers to Bravado as being a changed gorilla, becoming playful and indulgent. Fossey thought Bravado would be sad to find Curry dead and would exhibit certain common behaviors. Bravado did not. Fossey couldn't tell if it was just an effort to forget the baby or the relief of being no longer tied to the cares of motherhood.
