What are some of the issues faced by the students?

Aside from trying to live up to Fossey's standards many of the students suffer from other issues. The first student to arrive at the camp had decided during the journey that the task was too difficult. Others could not tolerate the solitude, the rigorous exercise required for the hiking and observation, or could not stay on track when working without Fossey's direct supervision.
