Fossey could not understand that students who want to study gorillas would object to any of the hardships in order to do so. Fossey also could not understand how students could put their own goals and comforts above those of the gorillas. Furthermore, there were those who were absolutely stupid, several causing fires that demolished cabins and equipment.
