Who is Pindar from Gorgias and what is their importance?

The Greek poet, Pindar, was born in 522 in Cynoscephalae, in Boeotia. His canonical lyric works are regarded as the greatest and best preserved. He composed choral songs, including hymns, paeans, preludes, laments, and victory odes. Pindar died in 443 in Argos.
