What is the setting of Girls in Pants: The Third Summer of the Sisterhood by Ann Brashares?

Settings common to all four girls are not as important to the construction of the plots as the settings of each individual girl's life. Common settings occur at the beginning when the four friends are together on the football field for pictures after graduation, for the ceremony of the Pants at Gilda's Gym and on the beach in the final chapter. Even in the instances where two or three of the girls share the same setting, the feeling of excitement and tenseness is not apparent.
