How does the author use foreshadowing in Gabriela, Clove and Cinnamon?

Gabriela thinks far differently than her husband. The fact that she is upset that Nacid wants her to stop doing the things she enjoys, coupled with the fact that she never really saw a need to get married, foreshadows her infidelity.
