What is an example of irony in the novel, Gabi, a Girl in Pieces?

Gabi notes that her father once wore a white suit to an anniversary dinner in order to make Gabi’s mother happy. She also notes her father saying that he would not wear the suit again... not even if he were dead. Gabi’s mother, however, has her husband buried in this white suit.
