What is the theme in Franny and Zooey by J. D. Salinger?

One major theme in the novel is ego. This theme is illustrated through Franny and Zooey's characters, and the fact they find fault with everyone around them because they see them as having enormous egos. Ironically, it's the main characters' oversized egos that leads them to this perception.
