What is the summary of Chapter 3 in Forty Acres and Maybe a Mule?

In Chapter Three, Gideon and the others are traveling from area to area in order to find a Freedmen's Bureau. The weather is beautiful for traveling, but after making their way to nine different towns, they are still unsuccessful. They believe that possible they need to make their way out of South Carolina to Georgia, but Gideon is anxious to reach Georgia in order to get his "forty acres" and begin farming.
