Who is Boss Ribs from Fools Crow and what is their importance?

Boss Ribs is Fast Horse's father and the powerful Beaver Medicine man. He has lost two wives and three children and then Fast Horse shuns the traditions of his people. He eventually dies of the white scab disease.
