Why do the ladies find Greta's comment about the Duke of Kent surprising?

They find Greta's comment about the duke being married surprising because in their time line, he has not yet gotten married. Apparently, the man has shown little or no interest in getting married because the Blue Cove ladies believe that the duke is not interested in women.
