Why are there fancy items in Blue Cove homes not found in Little Valley homes?

The Blue Cove homes have these items because the men have brought them back to their families from trips to the West Indies and other places where these luxuries are common. Little Valley homes do not have these items because most of the men are fishermen, not sailors on cargo ships.
