How has Leah Cornwall come to have control of her husband's ship?

Captain Cornwall died of yellow fever in Bombay. When his shipmates wanted to bury him at sea, Leah threatened to kill them with guns if they did so. She wanted her husband taken back to Blue Cove to be buried.
