What do Santosh and Tomas have in common?

As Santosh quickly realizes, he and Tomas have a great deal in common. Basically, they both have pet interests, the kinds of things others might call nerd interests, but that really everyone has. Tomas is interested in jazz music, Lord of the Rings, and the movie Alien. Santosh likes Taylor Swift, E.M. Forster books, and tennis (they both like tennis, though they admire different players). The point is these are all things others might ridicule, but they -- and everyone else -- have these interests, which makes them similar.
