In "Secret Samantha," what happens when Samantha goes to see the school nurse?

Upset over how her gift was received by Blade, Samantha asks to visit the school nurse. The nurse can find nothing wrong with her, but since she is in tears, the nurse calls Samantha's mother. Her mother asks why she is crying and Samantha tells her no one seems to get her. In response, her mother gives her a hug and thanks her for being such an amazing daughter and dealing with her divorce and new relationships so well. Samantha cheers up a little, but cheers up even more when she spots the shoelaces in her mother's purse. She convinces her mother the day can be salvaged if she can have the shoelaces.
