. How did the narrator get her nickname?

The first time the narrator asked her father where babies came from, he told her "Treetops." Celeste points out that her father would never have used something similar as a nickname. Apparently, he had told her to "look it up" (127) when she had asked, and that would never have worked as a nickname.
