London and Memphis are both cities, but London does not have Jim Crow laws. There is more equality between white and blacks in London than in Memphis. Memphis is a growing city, but lynching still occurs and black people do not feel safe. Nicodemus is the starkest contrast between all three places. It is a homestead life where farming communities must look out for each other. It is also an all-black community where black people feel there is more opportunity to work for themselves.
