Why is Fortney, on his third pint of draft at the bar, feeling stupid?

Fortney has come to the bar to search for Blaze and is now feeling stupid, because he knows that his feelings for Blaze would most likely not be returned. He is embarrassed and has grown very lonely since his last divorce.
