In one vignette, the unnamed narrator observes how postcards have changed over time. While they used to feature as much of a famous landscape or feature as possible, now postcards have started to feature the fine details of a particular piece of that landmark or landscape. The ecstasy of detail has taken over where exploitative photography had left off.
