Who is Deputy Ward from First Blood and what is their importance?

Deputy Ward is one of the deputies who enters the woods with Teasle to search for Rambo. He remains behind with Teasle during the rainstorm, and he catches Orval the first time Teasle loses him in the rushing water, saving his life. Orval later dies in the waterfall. While attempting to avoid Rambo, Ward is suddenly shot in the face. He dies instantly.
