Who is Kenny Sparks from First, Do No Harm and what is their importance?

Kenny Sparks and his wife participated in fertility treatments when they had trouble conceiving naturally. Their son, however, was born prematurely and suffered from spina bifida. When Kenny is left with the choice to allow his son to die or put him through an operation, Kenny initially chooses to allow Landon to die peacefully. He later changes his mind, and Landon lives.
