Who is Carey Poarch from First, Do No Harm and what is their importance?

Carey Poarch is Fran's husband, and the father of premature twins.... Jake and Taylor. Jake loses his battle to stay alive after only a few hours. Taylor is kept alive with a ventilator for weeks. After an extended period of time, Carey and his wife agree to remove Taylor's ventilator, as it was the only thing keeping her alive.
