Why does violet have feed malfunction? Why doesn’t she get it fixed?

Unlike Titus, Violet does not come from a background with money. She had her feed installed at seven-years-old instead of at birth. This makes her feed prone to malfunction. Violet and her father do not have the money to get it fixed.
