What is the theme in Fallout by Ellen Hopkins?

Addiction is the main theme in the book. This novel is about the three eldest children of a woman addicted to crank for more than twenty years. Hunter should be well-adjusted because he was raised by his maternal grandparents, but the knowledge that his father was a rapist causes him a great deal of emotional turmoil. Autumn has never meet her parents, does not even know her mother's name. However, she suffers anxiety attacks that are a result of her parents' volatile relationship when she was young. Summer is still in contact with her mother, and is still impacted by the various addictions that rule both her parents' lives.
