What is an example of irony in the book, Fairy Tale: A Novel?

The "play" time the prisoners engage in each morning is an example of irony because unlike what we expect playtime to be, this playtime is actually preparation for the Fair One in which the prisoners will be expected to fight each other to the death in a bracketed competition.
