The play's main setting is the home of the Frasiers, the black family whose story is the focus of Act One, watched in Act Two, and twisted in Act Three. It is described as appearing "like a nice living / dining room in a nice house in a nice neighborhood" (7). This is a key component of the play's multi-faceted consideration of layers of reality, in that it presents a familiar-looking context for familiar-looking characters to play out familiar-seeming behavior, only to have it turned around by the action of Acts Two and Three.
