Who is Carla from Fade Away and what is their importance?

Carla Gorman is a member of the Sixties radical group, The Raven Brigade. She arrives in New York after robbing a bank in Arizona with information to blackmail Greg Downing. She is later murdered by Downing's lover, Audrey Wilson.
