Detective Baker is a cop who often helps Janie and Cabel in their undercover investigations. Baker is the cop who made the bust on the drug case and he is one of two cops who enters Durbin's house when Janie sets off her panic button. Janie and Baker become friendly at the end of the novel, suggesting Baker might become a regular character in Janie's life.
