Who is Jacob Christensen from Factotum and what is their importance?

Jacob Christensen is Henry Chinaski's supervising night janitor in the Times Building in Los Angeles. He is concerned that Henry not mess with his best janitor, scrappy Old Huge. When Christensen and Herman Barnes discover Henry asleep in the ladies' room, he is fired.
