Linda is Kurt Wallander's nineteen-year-old daughter. Kurt thought that everything was fine with his daughter and felt that they were close until she was 15. Then, one day, she tried to commit suicide. He hasn't talked to his daughter in years. She travels around the world; however, Linda does keep in touch with her mother. She is dating a Kenyan medical student, Herman Mboya, who her mother says is good for her. During the course of the novel, she decides to enroll in college. Linda cautiously makes contact with her father over the course of the novel, indicating that perhaps their relationship will begin to mend.
