Who is Muriel in the novel, Fablehaven?

Muriel is a witch who is bound in an ivy-covered shack on the Preserve until Seth and Kendra release her to change Grandma from a chicken to her human form. Muriel helps release Bahumat, but the fairies bind her to Bahumat in the basement of the chapel before the two can take over the Preserve.
