Why do you think the author writes a separate variation for each of the five senses?

The author may have a separate variation for each of the five senses because it allows him to focus on each of the senses. If he wrote all five together, the story may be too long or complicated to follow. By separating them, each sense gets the attention it deserves, and the reader can fully experience that sense in the basic story.
