What is Death’s task in this play?

Death’s task in this play is to be a wake-up call to Everyman. Death is the one who tells Everyman that his time on Earth is over and the time for his reckoning has come. Death is a looming threat that should motivate Everyman to live a life in line with the teachings of God.
