What are the advantages and disadvantages of EU integration?

The advantages of European Union integration are greater cooperation between nation states and economies of scale. The disadvantage is a loss of sovereignty for nations and individuals, and a loss of representative government for the same, in lieu of being ruled by unelected bureaucrats.
