Esperanza Rising

When they go to the striker's camp, Esperanza and Miguel were surprised by the fact it was surrounded by a fence and is protected by guards. Conditions in the camp are horrific; no running water, no electricity, hardly any toilets, and few tents..... people are sleeping on the ground, and out in the open. The camp is filthy.
