Why does Haley volunteer to do the Extreme Challenge?

Haley volunteers to do the Extreme Challenge rather than Kyle. She would be a fabulous spokesmodel for the games, but she can't just take everything that Kyle and his team have already learned. She needs to earn her place on the team.
