One major theme in Elizabeth the Great is that of female monarchy. Elizabeth's father, Henry VIII, never intended for his realm to ruled by either of his daughters. In fact, both Mary and Elizabeth's mothers were set aside in order to conceive a male heir.... something Henry did not believe tham capable of.
None-the-less, Henry would have been proud of his second daughter and the way in which she ruled the realm. Elizabeth was beloved of the people, intelligent, and powerful. She was wife and mother to her country, she was tough, and even masculine when it was warranted.
