The point of view of this novel is third person. The entire novel is seen through the eyes of Andrew, a business man who has returned to his hometown to bury his mother. The reader is allowed access to the action that takes place in the plot as well as Andrew's thoughts and memories.
The point of view of this novel works because the majority of the first half of the novel is flashbacks and memories. If not for the third person point of view, some of these flashbacks and memories would not make sense to the reader.
