What does Old Quil say about the first vampires?

Old Quil tells the story of how the first vampires came to the area. The werewolves chased a strange scent after the murders of members of a neighboring tribe. Several of the werewolves were killed, but one survived and brought back the dismembered body of a vampire. The body was still alive somehow and tried to reform itself, so Taha Aki and his people burned the vampire and divided its ashes. Taha Aki placed some of the ashes in a bag to wear around his neck so he would be warned when the vampires returned.
