Easy Beauty
Why does Chloe visit Cambodia as noted in the memoir, Easy Beauty?
.

.
Only two weeks after returning to Brooklyn from Utah, Chloé tells her dean and her husband that she is leaving for Cambodia. She takes the trip under the guise of performing research for her dissertation. Curious to explore "Aristotle’s paradox of tragedy through the lens of dark tourism," Chloé uses the trip as an excuse to perform relevant research (175). Throughout her journeys and explorations in this country, Chloé is awed by the tourists' seemingly unaffected response to “sites memorializing death and disaster” (175). Meanwhile, she develops a kinship with her driver, Chetra. Initially, she thinks their relationship is equal. However, the more time they spend together here, the more ways Chloé realizes she has offended her new friend.
