The reader sees Aggie only through Jane's perspective. Jane always notices that Aggie is dressed perfectly, cooks difficult dishes to perfection, and makes everything from scratch. Those are stark contrasts to how Jane feels about her own abilities most of the time. Jane is jealous of the time Duncan expends on Aggie, including that he still mows her yard. However, there seems to be nothing but friendship remaining between them based on the fight they have while on a trip together. The end of that trip is one of the few times Aggie seems less than perfect to Jane.
